Zoom is cloud conferencing platform. It is also available on mobile (app). The Zoom app has now become the most frequently downloaded app in Pakistan and other countries. This app has also outpaced popular apps like WhatsApp, Instagram and TikTok etc.
There has been a disturbance over the past
several days over the security of the Zoom video conference app. The CEO
of Zoom itself has admitted that the Zoom app has faults regarding
security. Zoom CEO Eric S. Yuan said in a blog a few days ago that the
company is investigating the matter and the security problem will be resolved
in the next 90 days. An update to the security patch will be release.
In December 2019, The number of daily active
users of Zoom was 10 million (one crore) which has increased to 200 million (200
million in March 2020). He said that due to CoronaVirus, more than 95,000
schools & colleges & universities in 20 countries around the world are also using the zoom app.
Zoom app not encrypted:
Usually any chatting app & video calling
app has end to end encryption. In such a condition, the data of the people
remains only among the sender and the receiver, but this is not the situation
with the zoom app, because the zoom is not encrypted.
As a suggestion, the agency has said that
before using the zoom, keep the app up-to-date and keep a strong
password. Apart from this, Enable the waiting room feature on the app so
that the people participating in the meeting remain in control. The
government has said that on the zoom app, unauthorized people can join the conference
and your private meeting can be made public.
Hackers also Use zoom on the
target:
Video Meet app (Zoom) has achieved a lot of popularity
in present time. Now this app is also targeted by hackers and unauthorized
peoples. Hackers are earning through privacy and security bugs. Let
me tell you that this app had recently made the number 1 free app in Pakistan
on the Play Store, beating out TicTalk and WhatsApp. During lockdown of
Covid-19, a large number of people are using Zoom app for video
conferencing. This app has been downloaded more than 2 crore times in Pakistan.
What to do for security in zoom
app:
- Create
different user IDs and passwords for all your meetings.
- Turn
on the waiting room feature so that only people join the meeting that you
want.
- Disable
the join feature before the meeting Start.
- Allow
screen sharing only for the person who is meeting host.
- Discontinue
the way for deleted people to join again (re-join is disabled)
- If
not needed Turn off the file transfer feature.
- Lock
the meeting, once everyone has joined the meeting.
- Turn
off recording feature.
- If you are the host, do not leave the system immediately after the meeting is end.
Video chatting with 100 people at a time:
Zoom is a free HD meeting app. Through this, users can talk
with a maximum of 100 people at a time (in free version). The biggest
feature of the app is its easy Graphical User interface. Along with this,
many more features have also been provided in the zoom app, which users are
